(Spirit Lake)– A new park in Spirit Lake may soon have a name.
Blain Andera of the city’s Parks and Recreation Committee told the city council Tuesday they’re recommending a new park on Sunner Avenue be named “Bob Allen Park”.
Allen was a well-known sportsman and trap shooter. Andera says the tribute would be fitting in that the city has two other parks already named in memory of trap shooters–Gilbert Park, named after Fred “Dude” Gilbert, and Johnny Jahn Park.
The city council took no action on the committee’s recommendation Tuesday, saying the Allen family should be contacted first.
