Clay Co. Searches Result In Arrests

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Clay county authorities say seven people have been arrested as the result of three search warrants executed over the past several days.

The first search was conducted at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at an apartment at 208 East Fourth Street in Spencer. It turned up quantities of marijuana, paraphernalia, ledgers and cash. 25-year-old Andrew Ferguson and 24-year-old Tiffany Ferguson who reside at the apartment were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at 9,825-dollars each. Authorities say they found evidence at the scene that indicates the two allegedly allowed juveniles to use their residence to use illegal narcotics.

About 400-dollars in cash and a 1988 Honda Prelude were seized and forefeiture proceedings against the property were initiated. Because the residence is within a thousand feet of a school, authorities say additional charges are expected.

A search warrant was then executed at the Mike, Carol and Jeremy Walters residence at 1710 Highway 18 in Spencer. Quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana were found along with paraphernalia, ledgers and cash. The three were taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were held on 11,755-dollars bond each.

A search warrant was then executed at the Todd and Melonie Hamrick residence in rural Everly. Over a pound of marijuana was discovered along with paraphernalia, ledgers and cash. The Hamricks were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Each was held on nearly 10-thousand dollars bond.

Forefeiture proceedings are underway on the cash that was seized from the Walters and Hamrick residences.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says their investigation continues and more arrests are likely.
