Boat Crashes Into Mau Marina Gas Dock

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has released information into a boat crash last weekend that caused a considerable amount of property damage and sent one person to the hospital.

Gary Owen, a DNR Enforcement Officer, says an 18-foot Crownline boat operated by Jeffrey Clark of Okoboji literally ran THROUGH the gas dock at Mau Marine on East Lake Okoboji. Owen says the crash took place between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, but wasn’t reported to authorities until the next morning. Owen says they received a call from Clark around 3:00 p.m. Sunday stating he had sustained injuries as a result of the crash and was going to a hospital. There was no word to the extent of his injuries.

Extensive damage was reported to the dock, deck and the boat.

Owen says no charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon, but he says the crash remains under investigation.
