Bill To Lower Limit On Drunk Boating Making Its Way Through Iowa Legislature

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– A bill that seeks to lower the state’s drunk boating alcohol limit is moving ahead in the Iowa legislature.

The measure, approved by a Senate committee, lowers the limit to the same as for drivers–at point-oh-eight percent.

The limit for drivers was lowered in 2003, but it didn’t change for boaters–which stands at point-one-oh.

Republican Senator Thurman Gaskill of Corwith says boaters should abide by the same guidelines as drivers.

The measure goes to the full Senate for debate.
