Arnolds Park Apartment Fire Said To Be Suspicious; Suspect Sought For Questioning

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Authorities say a fire Sunday that heavily damaged an apartment above the Bluewater Caberet in Arnolds Park was intentionally set. They’re looking for atleast one person for questioning in connection with the blaze, which was reported around 7:30 a.m.

Upon arriving, firefighters found light fire and heavy smoke coming from the apartment. They extinguished a pile of debris in the middle of a room and ventilated the apartment. Very minimal damage was reported to the restaurant, which was open for business Sunday. Damage to the apartment was estimated at between five thousand and ten thousand dollars.

No injuries were reported.

Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Chief Chris Youngbluth says an investigation determined the fire was intentionally set. He says it remains under investigation by the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire Department, Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office and the Arnolds Park Police Department.

Firefighters were on the scene Sunday about an hour and 45 minutes.
