(St. Paul, Mn.)– Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has extended his Stay-at-Home order two weeks, until Monday, May 18th. He is also allowing more retail businesses to open on Monday. Gov. Walz outlines the state’s direction…
“What we’re announcing today is we’re going to extend the stay-at-home order on bars, restaurants and public accommodations until Monday, the 18th of May. But we are moving retail businesses to re-open operations for curbside pickup and delivery; putting 30,000 Minnesotans back to work. Bruce is going to talk about this, he used a football analogy with me, which is always helpful, I guess, about this step that we’re making to move this. This is a big move. It’s a move that not a lot of states have taken. Some have opened up all the way and said that, others have not. But what this allows us to do is, it allows us to validate the Minnesota way of doing it. It allows us to believe that we can continue to social distancing using smart processes and while continuing to test, trace and isolate and not overwhelm the system.”
Walz also noted that they will continue to work with businesses and industries, and will review options that would allow more sectors to open safely prior to May 18th.
