Milford City Council Hears Trails Update; Opts Not To Live Stream Meetings

January 28, 2020

(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday evening heard an update from Erin Reed, Director of Dickinson County Trails. Reed updated the council on various projects currently underway, along with plans to submit grant funding requests to assist with a project to connect the Iowa Great Lakes Trails system with one from Clay county…Milford Council04 (1)

“I think it has great opportunity for development, and that it will be looked upon favorably, and we’re going to continue searching, looking at getting local funding and donations to advance that as quickly as possible. And I think Clay county is very excited about making that connection as well.”

Reed didn’t give a timeframe as to when that project might be carried out.

The council also last (Mon.) evening expressed opposition to a proposal to purchase equipment to live stream their meetings. Council member Andy Yungbluth said he was concerned with the cost…Milford Council05

“I have a hard time spending $10,000 of taxpayer money to live stream our council meetings. I mean usually if there’s a hot topic they’re going to come in and sign in and they’re going to want to be heard anyways.”

The council did express support for a proposal to purchase some television screens and related software to project documents and photos in the council chambers during meetings.
