(Estherville)-Hundreds of area high school and middle school students will participate in the Show and Jazz Choir Festival at Iowa Lakes, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Lakes Community College annual Show and Jazz Choir Festival will be held on the Estherville Campus over the next couple of days.
Vocal Music Professor Brett Fuelberth says the choirs will receive expert advice from clinicians. “The area schools bring their show choirs and their jazz choirs here and we bring in clinicians. We have Dr. Kurt Runestad from Doane College and Clay Blackman from the Omaha area. They both come in and they clinic the schools as the schools are getting ready for state contests and the show choir and jazz choir season. They get excellent comments on how to make their shows better. This is the first performance for most of these schools so, people can come out and it’s free for the public to come out and watch show choirs and jazz choirs perform here at the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes.”
He adds that the performances will be held in two locations. “If you’re interested in watching the show choirs, you can come to the gym, that’s where the show choirs will be and the jazz choirs will be in our auditorium. Each day we’ve got both jazz choirs and show choirs going on during the day, and runs pretty much all day with just a whole variety of jazz choirs and show choirs.”
