(Milford)– An initial report of a possible fire at a Milford apartment complex late Thursday afternoon resulted in the building being evacuated for a short period of time. However, Milford Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says it turns out there was no actual fire…
“We were paged out about 4:00 for a possible fire at the Broadway (Village) apartments. Before we arrived law enforcement advised us that we had major amounts of steam but no actual fire. When we got there we found that the hot water heater pressure relief valve in the hallway had let loose and was filling the place full of copious amounts of steam. We shut it all down and called for maintenance.”
Carpenter says some residents of the building were checked over by paramedics as a precaution…
“We had a few people that were excited and from the steam were panicking a little bit. Once we got them calmed down they checked them over medically and they were signed refusals and released.”
Milford firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
