Authorities Urging Everyone To Make Necessary Preparations In Advance Of Possible Blizzard Conditions

January 16, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– With potential blizzard conditions in the forecast late Friday night into Saturday, authorities say people should be getting ready today (Thursday).

Dickinson County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret says there are several things we should be doing to get ready…just in case…Blizzard Preparations

“Get what you need for the next couple of days today or tonight before the snow comes in in the morning. Travel doesn’t look like it’s going to be too pleasant either, so. If folks don’t need to be out and about tomorrow and Saturday it would be best just to stay put. If you have travel plans, if you’re headed out of town, you might want to see if you can hit the road today or you might have to hold off until Sunday or Monday. Otherwise, you know, just make sure you’re stocked up on things at home, you know, food, medications, whatever you’re going to need for a few days. If we get snow and the wind they’re talking about, some of the roads are going to be pretty tough to get through, not to mention the visibility.”

Ehret encourages everyone to stay put once conditions to start to deteriorate later in the day Friday and Saturday.
