(Arnolds Park)-There’s still time to register for Winter Games festivities and tournaments, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
With the 40th Annual University of Okoboji Winter Games now just a week away, participants are encouraged to register for events in the next few days.
Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber CEO Blain Andera says, registration is still open for quite a few events. “We’ve got some new events that folks are going to want to take a look at registering for. The 5 K Fun Run, Freaky Fast 5 K, that’s going to be down in Arnolds Park on Saturday morning, so that’s new this year. that run has always been in the afternoon before. Hammerschlagen is another new event, and then The Throwing Post has a 10 fir 10 Tournament. So, those are some new things. Of course, team sponsors are still available for Broomball, Flag Football, Softball and some of the old staples that people love. I encourage you to get on online and sign up a team or for an individual event.”
He adds that anyone wishing to purchase Official Winter Games apparel should do so soon. “Shipping is still available. We are not doing another clothing order, though, so if you haven’t purchased your piece of apparel that you would like, you need to get in and get it while the getting is still good.”
The U of O Winter Games will be held January 23-26 in the Iowa Great Lakes.
