Forest Ridge Incident Results In Six Staff Members Being Assaulted And Charges Against Four Juveniles

(Estherville)– Authorities in Emmet county say six staff members were assaulted after the next thing to a riot broke out late last month at the Forest Ridge Youth Services facility near Ingham Lake. 

The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the scene shortly before 8:00 pm December 30th. 

A subsequent investigation resulted in four juvenile residents of the facility being charged. A 14-year-old was charged with participating in a riot and four counts of assault; a 15-year-old female was charged with participation in a riot and three counts of assault; a second 15-year-old female was charged with participation in a riot and two counts of assault; and a 16-year-old female was charged with participation in a riot and four counts of assault. All four were taken to the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention facility in Eldora, Iowa. 

The injured staff members were taken by ambulances to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

The Estherville Police Department assisted on the scene.
