Homeowners Reminded To Keep Natural Gas Meters Protected Of Snow And Ice

January 15, 2020

(Spencer)– Homeowners are being reminded to keep natural gas and other utility meters clear of snow and ice.

Officials with Black Hills Energy say snow from meters should be gently cleared away by hand or with a broom. Shovels, ice picks or other sharp tools should not be used.

They say snow and ice should also be cleared from the outdoor vent on high-efficiency furnaces.

It’s also recommended that any snow or ice from overhangs above meters be removed to prevent any damage.
