(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is getting ready once again to interview major employers in its four-county service area. President and CEO Kiley Miller says it’s part of the “BEST of Iowa” program…
“That stands for business expansion and strategic trends. It’s a program sponsored by the utilities. We go out and interview some of our largest employers across the region. These are in depth interviews. They cover everything from like how do you feel about your sewer to what’s your product life cycle, and we put all that information together and what we get is a snapshot of the economy both locally and across the state.”
Miller says they conducted 22 of those interviews last year. He says they’re hoping to do 30 this year. He says the findings of last year’s survey showed some very positive results…
“59 percent of the businesses we interviewed expect to expand in the next three years. So more than half of the businesses that we encountered are ready to grow.”
Miller says the Corridor will be sending out letters soon to employers about the upcoming surveys.
