(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported when a pickup and a semi tractor/trailer collided Monday in the 4100 mile of Highway 71 in Clay county.
Authorities say 38-year-old Abelino Orellana Ramirez of Storm Lake was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra northbound when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy road. The pickup started to fishtail and collided head-on into the driver’s side of a cargo trailer being pulled by a 2014 Freightliner semi driven by 52-year-old Mark Hansen of Cabool, Missouri. Deputies say the pickup spun about 180 degrees upon impact, coming to rest facing northwest.
Ramirez sustained minor injuries and later went to a hospital for treatment.
$15,000 in damage was estimated to the pickup driven by Ramirez; damage to the semi was estimated at $3,500.
The collision took place shortly before 4:00 pm.
