(Ames)– The Iowa Transportation Commission today (Tues.) approved a little more than $1.38 million in total funding for five federal Recreational Trails Program projects.
Locally, the Dickinson County Trails Board was awarded $221,750 for the fourth phase of the “Tatonka Ska Trace” project, a trail being constructed on former railroad right-of-way between Spirit Lake and Lake Park.
The Federal Recreational Trails Program was created in 1991 for developing and maintaining recreational trails and trail-related facilities for motorized and non-motorized trail users.
