(Spirit Lake)– An annual fundraising event for the Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation will be held next month. This year’s “Grape Escape” will be held Friday, February 7th at the Waterfront Event Center. Sonja Hamm, the foundation’s Executive Director, Says the evening will feature horsd’ouevres and wine and bourbon tasting, along with silent and live auctions…
“Tickets are $100 per person and that includes all of your wine tasting, your bourbon tasting, appetizers, your main entree and dessert. There’s also sponsorship opportunities available so if you have a group that wants to get together, it’s certainly a great opportunity for the businesses in the area to support colleagues or co-workers and things in the area so we’ve got several levels of sponsorship that we also offer that includes tickets to the event. But otherwise like I said anyone is welcome to come and we encourage people to get out that night and enjoy the evening with us.”
Hamm says proceeds from the event will go to the foundation’s Scholarship Endowment Fund. She says that’s critical due to a shortage of professionals in the healthcare industry…
“We’re unfortunately going to be facing some shortages in years to come and so we’re trying to get ahead of that game and hope to drive interest in healthcare and then this is one way where we can help do that, is be able to provide scholarships for students in our area. Right now we’re able to support some seniors coming out of high school; we’ve got four scholarships right now for that level. We’ve got two that we’re offering at the college level and then also we have a couple that we’re offering at the employee level, so we want to make sure that we try to help as much as we can because we know education is expensive and want to assist in that route as much as we can.”
