Family Nature Night to feature “Animal Encounters” November 22

November 20, 2019

It’s Animal Encounters at the Dickinson County Nature Center Friday night, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Dickinson County Nature Center’s Family Nature Night to feature “Animal Encounters” November 22

Family Nature Night at the Dickinson County Nature Center will allow families to get up close with some of the resident animals at the Center.

Environmental Education Coordinator Bryanna Kuhlman says the program is called Animal Encounters.  “For this night only, we are going to have most of our animals out of their enclosures with an educator.  So, people can walk around the Nature Center and meet all of our animals, pet most of our animals and interact with them and get a closer look, instead of them being in their enclosures like if you typically come to the Nature Center.”

She adds that participants will become certified “Wildlife Guardians”.  “That was the term we found best suited.  We’re just trying to teach our visitors to be respectful of wildlife and in doing so, they get to become a Wildlife Guardian, and everyone gets to leave with their own special certificate and a pin that says that they’re a Certified Wildlife Guardian by Dickinson County Nature Center.”

The program will start at 7 o’clock Friday night and is free, however registration is requested.
