The public is invited to a social mixer following the TEDxOkoboji event, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has the story:
Although the TEDxOkoboji event on November 22 is sold out, organizers are encouraging the public to attend a social time following the talks at the Pearson Lakes Art Center.
Lead Organizer Josh Fiala explains. “So, we’re having a community social, just wanted to get more people involved. Because of our license, we were limited to selling 100 tickets. We know that there’s more than 100 people in our community that like the idea of TED and TEDx, and coming to it, so we wanted to open it up. It’s going to be held at the Pearson Lakes Art Center so people can come and see some of the cool things that we’ve had on display and get an opportunity to interact with the speakers. We’ll have some light snacks, the Pearson Lakes Art Center has a cash bar, and again, interact, have a good time and learn about what the day of was all about.”
He adds that video will be presented to recap the TEDxOkoboji talks. “We’ll have a nice video put together along with sharing some pictures that were taken throughout the day, so it’ll be a good opportunity for anybody that’s curious about TED and TEDx and want to learn more about what the speakers just got done speaking about, their ideas worth spreading, and interact with them as well.”
The social time is set to begin at 4:30 on November 22 and is free and open to the public.
