CAASA Looking For Volunteers To Help With Special Event

October 30, 2019

(Spencer)– The Center Against Abuse and Sexual Assault (CAASA) in Clay county is looking for volunteers to help with a special event coming up next spring. The organization’s Tracy Swanson says they’ll be holding their Woman’s Night Out event April 17th from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and that they are looking for some help…Swanson01

“Really volunteer can meaning doing anything. It can be hanging up flyers to attending meetings and helping us plan the details. You can help at the event, you can decorate, clean up, or have a job during the event just to make the night go a little more smoothly.”

Anyone interested in helping out should call (712) 262-4612.

Swanson also reminds everyone of the important services CAASA provides victims of domestic abuse in the area…Swanson02

“So we will take a victim or survivor and their families and what we do is we’ll do individual counseling, we can give them coping mechanisms, we can help them through the process, like if they want to go and report it we can be right there. While they’re in the hospital we will come. We have an on call staff and we are 24-7 if they call our Crisis Line. We go to the hospitals and we help people through that hard time because this is often the most difficult time in someone’s life.”

The month of October has marked the observance of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
