(Le Mars)– Spirit Lake students had a successful day at the 2019 All State Auditions, held Saturday, Oct. 26th at Le Mars High School. Spirit Lake students selected for the Iowa All State Band were Noel Roberts, Senior, on Clarinet, and Ben Fischer, Sophomore, on Percussion. Megan Sandison, Freshman, was selected as an alternate on French Horn. Spirit Lake selected for the Iowa All State Chorus were Hope Johnson, Junior, son Soprano I; Max Miller, Senior, on Tenor I, and Ian Miller, Freshman, on Bass II.
This will be Hope Johnson, Ben Fischer, and Ian Miller’s first appearance at the Iowa All State Music Festival. This will be Noel Roberts’ third appearance in the All State Band. Max Miller has attained All State Chorus honors all four years of high school.
Tyler Pedersen, Spirit Lake Band Director, and Luke Miller, Spirit Lake Vocal Director, said they are very proud of all of the students who auditioned, adding it takes months of hard work to prepare for this event, and the students grow immensely during the process.
Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, November 23, 2019.
