(Hull)– Authorities in Sioux county are investigating the death of a Boyden man who’s body was found in a house fire late last week.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to do a welfare check late Friday morning on 39-year-old Daniel Kaufman at his residence at 809 Sheridan Street in Boyden. Upon arriving they found heavy smoke and couldn’t enter the home. The Boyden and Sheldon Fire Departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Authorities then entered the residence and found Kaufman. He was pronounced dead a short time later by the Sioux County Medical Examiner. The body has since been transported to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation laboratory where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
