The Lost Island Nature Center has several events happening in the next week.
Naturalist Kaitlin Anderson says families are invited to enjoy a bike ride on Thursday evening. “The Lost Island Trail is completed, so it’s a good time during Fall when the leaves are changing to get out there and ride around the lake and enjoy that completed trail. We are just meeting here at the Nature Center parking lot, right north of Ruthven, and it’s a great activity for ages 12 and up, because we do go around the lake. We are asking participants to preregister by calling us or they can jump on our website.”
She notes that the annual Dad’s Belgian Waffles Fundraiser will be held on October 20th. “It’s kind of our big fundraiser for the year that helps our Nature Center keep running and it helps a lot of our educational programs that we hold throughout the year. So, that is taking place from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Emmetsburg VFW, and you can buy tickets in advance by calling the Nature Center. Advance tickets are $7.50, otherwise they’re $8.00 the day of the event at the door.”
The Nature Center will also hold their Halloween Hike on October 22.
