(West Okoboji)– Authorities are being tight-lipped about a manhunt that took place earlier today (Wed.) in West Okoboji.
KUOO news has learned it stemmed from a traffic stop this (Wed.) morning in Arnolds Park near Emerald Hills and that a suspect in the vehicle fled on foot. That resulted in officers from a number of area police departments along with the Iowa State Patrol and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, converging on an area of 1st and 4th Streets near Calvary United Methodist Church in West Okoboji where the suspect had fled into a wooded area.
The suspect was apprehended early this (Wed.) afternoon at a campground in that same area.
A check of the jail roster on the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office website late this (Wed.) afternoon shows the arrests of two people today (Wed.) on drug charges, but it isn’t known if they were in any way involved with the manhunt. They are identified in jail records as 30-year-old Amanda Kay Adams and 29-year-old Jacob Daniel Johnson. Their hometowns weren’t listed. Both were arrested by the division of narcotics enforcement on charges of manufacturing. Johnson has additionally been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, interference with official acts, habitual offender, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to maintain control. The records indicate Adams was booked into the Dickinson county jail at 12:30 pm and Johnson about an hour later.
