(Spirit Lake)– We’re awaiting details into a two-vehicle head-on collision that took place a little before Noon Wednesday (July 29th) on Highway 71 about a mile south of the Iowa-Minnesota border.
KUOO news has learned at least two people were injured and were transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. One of the vehicles caught on fire shortly after the crash. No one was reportedly in that vehicle when the fire broke out.
The collision resulted in the highway in that area being shut down while authorities investigated the crash and the vehicles were removed.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Spirit Lake Fire Department and Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulances and paramedics responded to the scene.
