(Okoboji)-Pre-registration is encouraged for the Family Glow Walk this coming weekend, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Nature Center, The Pearson Lakes Art Center and the YMCA of Okoboji are once again teaming up for the 3rd Annual Family Glow Walk on October 5.
Nature Center Community Relations Coordinator Kylie Roth says the event will begin at the Art Center. “They’ll get to put on glow jewelry and do some glow face painting, and then walk along the illuminated spine trail path, and along the way, the Bedell Family YMCA will have some fun activities, and then you’ll get to the Dickinson County Nature Center, and we have a space-themed area set up in our lower level that’s all black lit. We have activities going along with the different planets that are hanging, we have a black hole you can go into, a constellation tunnel to crawl through. You can pretend you’re a galaxy with some lit up hula hoops and then you finish up by walking back to the Art Center.”
She notes that preregistration is requested by October 3. “That’s always helpful to make sure we have enough face paints and glow jewelry. Basically, you just call the Pearson Lakes Art Center. It’s only $5 a person with a maximum of $20 per family.”
The Glow Walk will get underway at 6:30 Saturday evening.
