(Jackson, Mn.)– A man who’s already very familiar with the Jackson County Central Schools is now taking on some administrative duties with the district.
Nate Hanson is the new principal at JCC High School. He previously was involved with the district’s wrestling program and served as Dean of Students. Hanson says he’s excited and looking forward to his new duties…
“My beliefs that we talked about with wrestling just kind of carry over into academics and leading people and just having a culture of just trying to get better every day. I think Matuska started that culture at the high school and I just want to make it even better. I want to make it even a better place. I think everybody there has an attitude where we can work hard together and get better and keep improving so our students have, I don’t think there’s any reason in the world why Jackson County Central can’t be the best high school in the state of Minnesota.”
Hanson succeeds Mark Matuska as JCC’s High School Principal…
“Mr. Matuska did a great job in improving the culture and climate in the school. I was there a few years ago when he wasn’t there and to be honest it wasn’t the greatest place in the world to work and to learn. I thought we had a lot of room to get better, and we’ve made a lot of those steps. Now the hard work is probably here. The easy stuff has been taken care of and now to get to the top 80 percent is very hard, but to get to the top 99, that’s where all the work is. So we’ve got some work ahead of us to get better, to keep on improving.”
Hanson says continued improvement in school culture and climate and making sure students are properly prepared and productive members of society when the graduate are among his goals.
