(Okoboji)– The Crop Advantage Series of informational meetings will be coming back to northwest Iowa in January. Sessions will be offered locally January 3rd in Sheldon; January 4th in Storm Lake; And January 23rd in Okoboji. Leah Ten Napel, Field Agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, says the meetings will give producers a foundation of current research-based crop production information to help make smart, informed decisions for their farming operations…
“This is a program that’s been going on a long time with Iowa State. It’s a statewide program, so we have 12 meetings across the state of Iowa in the month of January and this is one of my favorite programs that we put on because it’s really great to have access to a lot of different topics but we do get to really specialize what we need in northwest Iowa when it comes to building the agendas. So my agenda is going to look much different for here in northwest Iowa than the southeast Iowa agenda is going to look like and that’s the thing I love most about this program. So this is tailored to what we needed to hear in northwest Iowa and this year I don’t have a ton of topics, I stuck to the basics of things I felt that growers really needed to hear. We have a few different options, but I think it might be hard to pick which section you want to go to because all of the information is going to be really good.”
Early registration at each site is $75; late registration made less than seven days prior to the meeting, or on-site, is $100. A private pesticide training session will also be available at each site for $30, paid to the local county Extension office.
