(Spirit Lake)– The YMCA of the Okoboji’s “Igniting a Healthy Legacy” campaign has received a substantial donation. Y officials say Drs. Walter and Barbara Mendenhall who are the campaign’s Advanced Division Co-Chairs, have given a six-figure lead gift in support of the fundraising effort.
The $6.5 million campaign is nearly 78 percent funded.
As we reported previously, the campaign will fund several improvements at Camp Foster, including construction of a visitor’s center and “airnasium” and expanded cabin spaces. It will also provide funding for a renovation of the aquatics center at the Bedell Family YMCA and serve as an organizational endowment.
