(Worthington, Mn.)– A young Worthington, Minnesota woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years on supervised release in the death of her three-month-old daughter.
Lisa Marie Shane was found guilty of second-degree murder and child neglect last month in the death of her daughter, Ashanta Chavarria.
Chavarria died of severe head trauma in November, 2004.
Nobles County District Judge David Christensen sentenced Shane on Friday, adding two-and-a-half years to the time called for under sentencing guidelines. He said she was a relatively sophisticated person with four children by the age of 19.
