(Lakefield, Mn.)– A Worthington teen sustained minor injuries after losing control of her vehicle trying to avoid a deer that ran out in front of her as she was westbound on Interstate 90 about five miles west of Lakefield.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 18-year-old Emily Williams was driving a 2001 Ford Escape when she swerved to avoid a deer on the roadway. Authorities say Williams lost control of the vehicle, which rolled and landed on the roadway updside down.
Williams, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to the Worthington hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
The vehicle was totaled.
The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakefield ambulance and Lakefield Fire and Rescue.
The mishap took place shortly before 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening.
