Women Managing Farmland Seminar To Be Held Jan. 27th In Milford

January 06, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– An informational meeting for women who own and/or manage farmland is coming up later this month in Milford. Madeleine Smith of the ISU Extension and Outreach for Dickinson County says it will be held January 27th from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the Milford Community Center…

“We’re going to discuss topics such as farmland leasing and value, scheduled farm programs, succession planning and if you’re just starting, learning more about the Beginning Farmer Center. This is a completely free program to attend but we really do need you to call to pre-register, either to the Clay county office or the Dickinson county office so we can plan ahead for food because there will be a light dinner provided. The goal for this program really is for women who manage farmland to come together, share a meal, maybe network a little bit, and learn a little bit more about how they can make use of their farm.”

Smith says it’s especially relevant given the fact the majority of farmland in Iowa is owned by women.
