(Storm Lake)– A Storm Lake woman has been arrested for forging checks.

On November 23rd, the Storm Lake Police Department was contacted by Citizen’s First National Bank in Storm Lake regarding multiple checks being written on a closed account of a customer without their knowledge or consent. Following an investigation, police allege that a suspect identified as 31-year-old Nashley Craig had passed multiple forged checks totaling approximately 500-dollars at several Storm Lake businesses throughout late September of this year. Police subsequently applied for arrest warrants for Craig.

On Tuesday of this week, police located Craig in Storm Lake and took her into custody. She was charged with six counts of Forgery, a class D felony…and six counts of 5th Degree Theft, a simple misdemeanor. Craig was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.

The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Ida County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer Police Department, Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office, and Sutherland Police Department.
