Windom Toro Plant Damaged By Fire

November 22, 2014

(Windom, Mn.)– The Toro plant in Windom, Minnesota has been damaged by fire.

The blaze was reported around 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the plant’s diecast area. Firefighters had to use extinguishers instead of water to fight the blaze to avoid steam from water splashing on or near two furnaces used to melt aluminum.

First shift employees were sent home an hour before their shift ended; the second shift was canceled altogether.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
