(Okoboji)– A collision of two personal watercraft late Saturday afternoon on West Lake Okoboji sent one person to the hospital.
Gary Owen of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Lakes Patrol tells KUOO news the pwc’s were being operated by two juvenile boys who’s names weren’t released.
Owen says the operator of one of the jet skis, a 16-year-old from Cedar Rapids, was treated on the scene by EMT’s with the Lakes Area Fire Boat, who took him to a dock at the Inn. From there the boy was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated and released.
No injuries were reported to the operator of the other jet ski, a 17-year-old boy from Edmond, Oklahoma.
Owen says the two boys face charges of wreckless operation and underage consumption of alcohol.
The collision took place around 4:30 p.m. Saturday just off Fort Dodge Point, in front of the Inn.
