(Spirit Lake)– Officials are assessing the damage to the new Dickinson county courthouse after a condensation line on the building’s air conditioning system sprung a leak Tuesday afternoon.
It sent water running out of a ceiling in the main corridor on the building’s upper level, damaging some ceiling tile, sheet rock and woodwork.
County officials say the contractor on the project will be responsible for repairs. The building is still under warranty.
Meanwhile, it was reported at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting construction on the second phase of the new courthouse is to begin the first week in June with completion slated for late October, 2007.
The supervisors also Tuesday approved a changeorder for the first phase of slightly more than 3,200-dollars for mixing valves for 17 restroom sinks and for a starter motor for the emergency generator. It brings the total amount of changeorders so far for the project to slightly more than 463-thousand dollars. That’s roughly 70 percent of what was budgeted for changes.
