(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday approved a recommendation from County Engineer Dan Eckert to install a flashing warning light at the intersection of county roads M-27 and A-34 nine miles west of Milford.
Eckert says that intersection has had a history of bad accidents and traffic volume there continues to increase…due largely to more traffic headed to the lakes from expanded Highway 60 just to the west of that location.
Currently, only east-west traffic at the intersection is required to stop. With the warning light, north-south traffic will be required to yield with a yellow light; east-west traffic will have a flashing red light, warning them to stop.
Eckert says the light is intended to enhance other warning devices already in place at the intersection, including rumble strips and warning signs.
Eckert says they hope to have the warning light up and running in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
