Utility Pole Fire Knocks Out Power To Portion Of Spirit Lake

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake firefighters were called to a utility pole fire around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire Chief David Kollasch says the pole is located between 18th Street and Lake Street on Dundee Street. He says firefighters could see flames at the top of the pole upon arriving.

Kollasch says firefighters stood by until crews from Alliant Energy arrived to shut off the power. At that point he says they were able to put it out.

The blaze resulted in power being knocked out to that immediate area.

Firefighters were on the scene a little more than a half hour.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
