Upper Des Moines Opportunity reminds residents there’s still time to apply for LIHEAP

March 31, 2022 Becky Thoreson

(Spirit Lake)-Upper Des Moines Opportunity of Dickinson County is reminding residents that there’s still time to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP.

Outreach Specialist Kris Erickson says funds are available to help with heating costs:

“LIHEAP is our heating assistance program, it’s all income based. which is to 100% this year. It goes off of your income and it assists you with your heating bill.”

She says the application process is fairly simple. “They can either call or they can come into our outreach office in Spirit Lake. They pick up an application and, if they’ve never been here before, they will need proof of current 30 day income, social security card and then, their copies of their current utility bills.”

Upper Des Moines is open from 8-4 Monday through Friday with a break for lunch and is located on the back side of the Great Lakes Mall in Spirit Lake.
