(Royal)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday near Royal sent several people to the hospital. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Gabriel Davis of Ruthven was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix eastbound on County Road B40 when the vehicle traveled into the westbound lane and collided with a westbound 2003 Ford Focus driven by 28-year-old Johnathon Updike of Royal.
Davis sustained a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. Updike and a juvenile passenger in his vehicle declined treatment on the scene, but were taken by private vehicle to Spencer Hospital.
Both vehicles were totaled.
The collision took place around 5:15 pm. Authorities say it remains under investigation.
