Two Spencer Businesses Cited For Selling Tobacco To An Underage Person

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Citations have been issued against two Spencer businesses for selling tobacco products to an underage person.

Spencer police say it stems from a compliance check conducted at 20 Spencer businesses.

The Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division assisted in the check.

Penalties for violations can include a fine for the clerk of 100-dollars and a 300-dollar civil penalty for the retailer.

Mandated checks of tobacco retailers throughout the state are conducted annually.
