Two Melvin Residents Sentenced In Child Abuse Case

March 23, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Sibley)– Two people from Melvin arrested in September 2020 in a child abuse case have been sentenced in Osceola County District Court. Derek White and Donna Rae Reisdorfer were each charged with one count of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person and two counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury.

According to online court documents, White was sentenced to 10 years in jail on the neglect or abandonment of a dependent person charge and five years on each count of child endangerment with bodily injury. The two five-year terms are to be served concurrently, meaning he will serve five years on the two charges. The 10-year sentence and the five year sentence will be served consecutively, for a total of 15 years.

Reisdorfer was placed on probation for five years on the child endangerment with injury charges with the other child endangerment with injury charge and neglect of a dependent person charge being dismissed as part of a plea deal.
