Two Blue Earth, Minnesota Men Arrested In Kossuth County

November 22, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Algona)– Two Minnesota men arrested Saturday in Kossuth county after authorities received a report from the Martin County, Minnesota Sheriff’s Office regarding a van pulling a trailer. Martin county authorities had probable cause to believe the occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a theft of property, and that the van was headed for northern Kossuth county.

Martin county authorities observed the vehicle pull into a vacant farm site on the Iowa/Minnesota border. They also reported seeing two men flee the van. One of them was caught and detained while the other escaped into a grassy CRP area. Additional deputies and a K-9 responded to the scene and tracked down the second suspect.

The two men were identified as 30-year-old Layne Boettcher and 35-year-old Dustin Reinhart, both of Blue Earth, Minnesota. Boettcher was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine, trespassing and fraudulent practice in the 4th degree. Reinhart was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and trespassing. Both were booked into the Kossuth county jail and may face additional charges out of Minnesota.

The van was impounded by the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office; the trailer, which was stolen out of Minnesota, was seized by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
