(Sibley)—A traffic stop yesterday (Tues.) on Highway 60 in Osceola county resulted in authorities finding a large amount of money that smelled like pot. It also resulted in two people being detained as illegal immigrants.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Alfredo Ponce Gonzales of Kansas City, Kansas was charged with speeding, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
A deputy also found 6,900-dollars in cash in the vehicle and on the occupants. Authorities say it smelled strongly of marijuana.
A detainer was issued by the Immigration and Naturalization Service on Gonzales and a passenger, 18-year-old Obed Yanez Salido, also of Kansas City, Kansas.
Both men are being held in the Osceola county jail pending deportation hearings.
