Traffic Stop Early Friday In Spirit Lake Results In Three Arrests

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop early Friday resulted in the arrests of three men on drug charges.

Spirit Lake police say officers pulled over a vehicle shortly before 3:00 a.m. A subsequent investigation resulted in the deployment of the department’s K9, Zeke, which resulted in the discovery of containers of alcohol, drug paraphernalia and what’s alleged to be marijuana.

The driver, 21-year-old Nickolas Joens of Harris, and two passengers were arrested.

Joens was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, prohibited acts, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain control and no insurance.

A passenger, 20-eyar-old Glen Larson of Sioux City, was charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Another passenger, 20-year-old Matthew Galvin of Lake Park, was charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
