Tim Grieves Resigns As Spirit Lake Superintendent Of Schools

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—Spirit Lake Superintendent Tim Grieves announced today (Thursday) he’s calling it quits after eight years of being at the helm.

His resignation is effective July 1st.

Grieves tells KUOO news he’s accepted the Chief Administrator position for the Northwest Area Education Agency. The agency serves 36 school districts and 31 non-public schools in extreme northwest Iowa with offices in Sioux City and Sioux Center.

Grieves says he’s proud of many things that took place during his tenure in the Spirit Lake district, citing improvements in student achievement; opening of the alternative high school; improvements and state recognitions with state championships; increasing the amount of activities available to students; and the 22 million dollars worth of construction and remodeling projects of the district’s facilities…including construction of the Sami Center.

Grieves adds the Spirit Lake Community School District is fortunate to have the Instructional Support Levy in place along with two one cent local option sales tax levies.
Grieves also thanked the faculty, teachers, patrons and others in the district he’s worked with the past eight years.
