(Spirit Lake)– A Terril man accused of sexually abusing two young girls over several years and allegedly using threats of violence in some cases to keep it secret has been sentenced to five years in prison. 36-year-old Cody Taylor pleaded guilty back in October to a charge of lascivious acts with a child. Online court records show two other counts of sexual abuse were dismissed as part of a plea deal. Taylor must also register as a sex offender.
The sentence will be served concurrent to an unrelated case in which Taylor pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery. He was accused of altering and redepositing eight checks over several months in 2020. Taylor will spend five years in prison on each count in that case, with the terms being served concurrently.
