(Worthington, Mn.)– Immigrations raids that occurred earlier this month at six meatpacking plants, including one in Worthington, Minnesota, continues to hurt production and hog prices.
More than 12-hundred Swift and Company workers were detained December 12th by federal immigration officials.
Swift’s pork plants have not returned to full capacity and company spokesman Sean McHugh says output levels are expected to be below normal over the short-term.
McHugh says Swift production facilities are operating on all shifts.
The slowdown has led to less buyers for hog farmer to go to, driving down prices.
