SUV, Motorcycle Collide, E’ville Man Injured

(Spirit Lake)– A collision late Wednesday afternoon on the east edge of Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say a Chevrolet S-U-V driven by 16-year-old Kate Weiss of Spirit Lake and a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Matthew Radig of Estherville collided at the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and 252nd Avenue, or Pioneer Beach Road.

Police say Weiss was travelling on 252nd Avenue and was pulling onto the highway after stopping at a stop sign while Radig was eastbound on the highway.

Radig was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with multiple injuries. No injuries were reported to Weiss.

Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the S-U-V driven by Weiss with three thousand dollars in damage to the motorcycle driven by Radig.

Spirit Lake police were assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake Fire Department which was called for a gas spill; and by the Spirit Lake First Responders and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.

Police say the mishap remains under investigation.
