Suspicious Person Complaint Results In Arrest Of Man At Gun Range

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An alleged incident at a Clay county gun range has resulted in charges against a Spencer man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called shortly before 6:00 p.m. Friday to the Ocheyedan Gun Range in the 1600 block of County Road B-24 after getting a report of two suspicious vehicles that had pulled in there.

Upon arriving deputies noticed a man identified as 30-year-old Alan Steelman of Spencer in possession of a firearm. Authorities determined Steelman was intoxicated and that he was a convicted felon.

Steelman was arrested and booked into the Clay county jail on charges of a felon in possession of a firearm…a class “D” felony; and public intoxication…a simple misdemeanor.
